This morning I was asked to consider the ways in which God has provided for me throughout my life. This struck some remembrance and thought as to where God has brought me to-date. His provision and protection have been amazing. He has sustained in times of distress, protected in times of need, and provided when times were tight. He has given and taken away. He has pruned… and I said “ouch!”
The before sentences may have sounded very genreral to you, but to me… many situations arise in my mind that cause me to give thanks to God. His call for me to Abide (John 15:4-5) in Him makes so much more sense when I look back and consider His provision.
Think for a moment how God provided and protected His one and only son in the early days of His life. God guided the steps of Joseph and Mary to protect His son and provide a way for you and me. First, He provided a place for the young family to stay. Jesus was born in a manger because Bethlehem was crowded and there was no room in the Inn. Second, King Herod tried to stop God’s plan, but God used the wise men to provide time for Joseph, Mary, and Jesus to make their way to Egypt. Third, these wise men presented gifts that may have provided the funds necessary for their stay in Egypt. Their stay in Egypt prevented Jesus from being murdered by the horrible decree of Herod (Matt. 2:16). We could go on, but I believe that we can see how God provided a way for His Son, who ultimately provided the way of salvation for you and me!
A few questions for you to consider: How has God provided for you throughout your life? What has He brought you through and how were you protected and provided for? How is He providing for you now?
Upon consideration of these questions, it is my prayer that you are driven to ABIDE in HIM all the more. I pray that we learn to trust Him more as see His provision and protection each day!
God Bless,
Pastor Jamie
